Burnsville Sergeant Wins MN Officer Of The Year
Brent Murray was also Burnsville's 2021 Officer of the Year.

BURNSVILLE MN — A sergeant from Burnsville has won MN Officer of the Year, according to a news release from Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association.
Burnsville Police Sergeant Brent E. Murray was nominated for his "outstanding service to the community and fellow officers," the association said. He was nominated by Burnsville Police Department and Police Chief Tanya Schwartz, the association said.
“Sergeant Murray is an incredibly valuable leader in our organization,” Burnsville Police Chief Tanya Schwartz said. “He is well-respected among his peers and serves with compassion and honor every day.”

Murray has worked for Burnsville PD since 2002, the association said. During this time, he was a patrol officer for four years, an investigator for three years and has been sergeant for the past 12 years, according to the association.
Murray has also earned 10 Distinguished Service Awards and four Meritorious Service Awards and was named Burnsville's 2021 Officer of the Year, the association said.
