Reminder

Time is running out to register for the City of Burnsville Community Wide Garage Sale.

Brief Reminder: The deadline for the community-wide garage sale is quickly approaching. Residents need to register by this Friday at 5 p.m. to get their sale on the map.

Officials are expecting a large crowd from out of town for the sale. this year, the city-wide garage sale coincides with a popular neighborhood sale around River Hills Drive, a Twin Cities summer staple for decades.

"The draw is always huge," said Garage Sale Coordinator Deb Oxborough.

However, registration has been slow-going in 2011. At present, the city has just 43 registrants on file. Last year there were about 80 homes along the route.

A registration form is available online at www.burnsville.org/garagesale. Residents can either register through the web site directly or they can print out a paper form return to city hall with check or cash. The cost is $20.

"More or less that pays for the advertising," Oxborogh said.

On behalf of all the sellers, the city puts advertisements in the Star-Tribune, The St. Paul Pioneer press and other local newspapers. The fee also pays for the publication of a master map for buyers. The sale itself will take place on June 3 and June 4.
