Six seniors at the Academy of Holy Angels (AHA) have been named Commended Students in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program.
They are:
- Madeline Esterl, Savage, St. John the Baptist parish and school
- Laura Jaede, Eagan, Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Metcalf Junior High School
- Monica Knaack, Burnsville, St. Peter’s Mendota parish, Faithful Shepherd School
- Frank Mork, Victoria, Westwood Community Church, Breck School
- Davis Nygren, Bloomington, Nativity of Mary parish and school
- Rita Taylor, Eagan, St. Peter’s Mendota parish, Trinity at River Ridge school
The designation as Commended Students means that these students scored in the top five percent of the 1,500,000 juniors who entered Merit Scholarship competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. There are about 34,000 Commended Students nationwide. Although they do not continue in competition for scholarship awards, the Merit Scholarship Corporation honors them for their fine performance and academic promise.
