Eagan-based CaringBridge helps family and friends connect during health events.

CaringBridge and Hallmark are planning to create cobranded products, content and services as part of a "strategic agreement," the companies recently announced

Eagan-based CaringBridge, provides online spaces where people can communicate with each other during a health event. The CEO and founder of the company is Sona Mehring

Mehring told the Star Tribune that the agreement between the companies will help increase awareness of CaringBridge and "enhance the overall user experience by making it easier to connect." The service will remain free.

In one of the first projects the companies will complete together, users will have the ability to add Hallmark words and images to CaringBridge guestbooks.

"Loved ones come together to support each other on CaringBridge, but it can often be hard to know what to say," Mehring said in a news release. "Adding Hallmark's expertise in this area will enhance the experience for our users and help amplify love, hope and compassion."

Said Patti Streeper, vice president of corporate innovation at Hallmark, "We will explore new ventures to address the needs of people and their caring communities when they need it most."
