City Administrator Retires After 9-Year Eagan Tenure
His retirement marks the end of his 40-year career in public service.

EAGAN, MN — Eagan's City Administrator Dave Osberg will retire on March 4 after nine years of working for Eagan, the city said in a news release.
His retirement marks the end of his 40-year career in public service in which he was also the city administrator for St. James, Waterville, and Hastings, the city said.
"Under Dave’s years of leadership, Eagan has repeatedly been named a Top City to Live, achieved a triple-A bond rating," Eagan's Mayor Mike Maguire said. "He helped guide the Eagan Forward community visioning, facilitated major developments in Eagan, and much more. On a personal note, he has been an amazing colleague, peer, mentor, coach, leader, and friend to so many – including me."

Major developments during Osberg's career in Eagan include Twin Cities Premium Outlets, Central Park Commons and Viking Lakes, the city said.

- Remodeling of the Central Maintenance Facility as well as
- The evolution of Eagan’s Fire Department from a volunteer fire department to a 24/7 full-time staffing model
Osberg has also received awards for his accomplishments, the city said. While in Hastings in 2010, he received the League of Minnesota Cities Leadership award for cities with a population over 10,000, and in 2014, while in Eagan he was named Manager of the Year by the Minnesota City and County Managers Association, according to the news release.
After retirement, Osberg said he plans to spend time with his family, travel and "likely play some golf."
"The opportunity to end my 40 years of public service in local government management, working for a tremendous City Council and professional, caring, and vibrant City staff is something I will always treasure," Osberg said.
