Eagan Groundbreaking for TCO Stadium is 'Milestone in Vikings History,' Owner Says

Officials from the Minnesota Vikings, Eagan and Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance convened at the site of the team's future HQ.

Eagan welcomed Minnesota Vikings officials to the site of the team's future headquarters this week for the "first of many" milestones in the history-making partnership.

Tuesday's groundbreaking for the new Vikings headquarters marked the first phase of the nearly 200-acre development that the NFL team and MVZ Ventures plan to open over the next several years. The team's representatives also announced a 20-year partnership with Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance — an all-inclusive sports medicine and wellness provider that will serve as the namesake for the new "TCO Stadium" headquarters.

Eagan Mayor Mike Maguire congratulated the Vikings owners on their commitment to excellence, and for helping to create visual new gateway to northeast Eagan. It continues a string of good news about developments in the city that include Central Park Commons, Bell Laboratories, and Ecolab's expanded research and development campus, he said.

“Today marks just the first of many more groundbreakings we hope will occur on this exciting 200-acre development,” Maguire said, in a news release. “The Vikings team headquarters and practice facility in Eagan opens up a whole new gateway to the northeast part of the city, and we are proud that this flagship franchise will now call Eagan home.”

Completion of the Minnesota Vikings Headquarters and its included indoor practice facility, full-service 88,000-square-foot orthopedic center, and expandable 6,000-person stadium is set for the spring of 2018.

The performance center and stadium will be available to youth, and for high school and amateur athletics, as well as other community events. It serve as an anchor to a total 200-acre development expected to transpire over the next 10-15 years, Vikings Owner and President Mark Wilf said.

“Following the recent opening of U.S. Bank Stadium, today’s groundbreaking marks another significant milestone in Minnesota Vikings history,” Wilf said, in a news release. “Constructing this world-class facility and formalizing the partnership with TCO furthers our goals of building this football team for sustained success, developing long-term business relationships, and ensuring our organization remains a strong community partner.”
