Don’t miss the Dakota County Master Gardener plant sale on Saturday, May 12th, 2012 from 9 a.m. until 12 noon at the University of Minnesota Outreach, Research and Education Park (UMore), 1605 West 160th Street, in Rosemount.
This year’s sale will again include heirloom tomatoes, certified organic compost and aged horse manure. These popular items sold out quickly last year. Also look for sturdy tomato cages. Clay pot “people,” a fun and educational project for children, will be for sale again. As always, there will be time-tested sun and shade perennials, fruits, vegetables, herbs, shrubs and trees grown primarily in the gardens of Dakota County Master Gardeners. Browse hundreds of plants that can be placed in native gardens, English cottage gardens, woodland gardens, rain gardens and more. Take a little time to tour the many educational display gardens and learn about each.
Shoppers can review plant care instructions at the University of Minnesota Extension website at http://
www.extension.umn.edu/gardeninfo/.
Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer questions and provide garden advice and free coffee. Purchases may be made with cash or check. Arrive early for the best selection, as plants sell out quickly and the sale will begin promptly. Come rain or shine. For even faster check out, consider bringing a cart or wagon.
The Dakota County Master Gardener Program is a community outreach program of the University of Minnesota Extension, with a mission to improve the quality of life and enhance the economy and the environment of the Dakota County community through education, applied research and the resources of the University of Minnesota.
