Feed My Starving Children in Eagan Set to Move, Expand

The volunteer organization is moving just around the corner in the same commercial building on Lone Oak Road. Though that's a small distance, the impact will be great, organizers say.

Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) announced it will soon open in a larger space in Eagan. The move will increase the site’s packing stations from six to eight, growing its annual production capacity from 27 million to 42 million meals a year to feed more starting children around the world.

Currently located at 990 Lone Oak Road, Suite 160, on the east side of an Eagan commercial building, the site will move to Suite136 on the north side of the same building.

When fully ramped up, the larger Eagan site will welcome 3,400 volunteers at 30 packing sessions a week, up from 2,200 per week currently. Information on volunteering at the site can be found online.

This is the second time in less than a year that Feed My Starving Children has expanded one of its three meal-packing sites in Minnesota—in Coon Rapids, Chanhassen, and Eagan. The Chanhassen location moved to larger space in January.

“Feed My Starving Children continually looks for ways to produce more meals while being a good steward of the funds God has entrusted to us,” says Mark Crea, Executive Director/CEO of FMSC. “Together, the expansions of Chanhassen and Eagan will result in an additional 25 million meals worth of meal packing capacity per year—the equivalent of opening a new site for just a fraction of the cost.”

FMSC opened its Eagan site at the current location in 2008. The site will move into its new location on Sunday and Monday, August 18 and 19, and will welcome volunteers to pack meals in the new space beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20. Groups originally scheduled to pack August 19 are being offered other times. The site’s phone number will remain the same, 763-746-2952, as will all other Eagan-based offices of FMSC.

The move also provides 35 percent larger warehouse space for FMSC’s Minnesota-based MobilePack operations, and for two national departments of FMSC: International Programs (global food distribution) and Operations (meal production).

Feed My Starving Children

A Christian non-profit founded in 1987, Feed My Starving Children tackles world hunger by sending volunteer-packed, nutritious meals to nearly 70 countries, where they're used to operate orphanages, schools, clinics and other building blocks of healthy communities. This year FMSC will produce 190 million meals at seven sites and through a nationwide MobilePack program. The Minnesota-based charity has earned the highest four-star rating from Charity Navigator for eight consecutive years, and devotes 92% of total donations directly to the feeding program.
