Mallory Weggemann Wins Gold In 200-meter Individual Medley

The Eagan resident is a three-time Paralympian.

EAGAN, MN — Eagan's Mallory Weggemann won a gold medal in the 200-meter Individual Medley SM7 Friday.

The U.S. also took silver in the event, with Ahalya Lettenberger coming in second place, followed by Australia's Tiffany Thomas Kane taking bronze.

Weggemann is a three-time Paralympian who last medaled in London in 2012, according to the article written by Team USA.

“I think most of all I’m overwhelmed in all the best ways,” Weggemann told Team USA. “I’m filled with so much gratitude for my community that has been a part of this journey and so much pride in what this represents. It’s been almost nine years since I’ve been atop the Paralympic podium, and I have been fighting for it every second.”
