MINNESOTA — Everson Griffen, a defensive end for the Minnesota Vikings, came out of his home without incident Wednesday after authorities say he called 911 saying he needed help.

A statement from the Vikings said Griffen is now getting the care he needs.

"Our focus remains on Everson's health and safety and providing the proper resources for him and his family," the team said in a statement.

Screenshots of texts saying "I need help" and "people are trying to kill me" along with a video of Griffen with a gun were posted to his social media early Wednesday morning, a news report from 5 Eyewitness News.

Police didn't find an intruder in the home. Law enforcement and psychologists with the Vikings were in ongoing conversations with Griffen since 7 a.m. The DPS said he was refusing to come out of his home.

The Minnesota Vikings released the following statement earlier in the day about the developing situation Wednesday:

"Vikings representatives and the team's mental health professionals have been on-site at Everson Griffen's home since early this morning and are cooperating with law enforcement," the team said. "Our only concern at this time is the safety and well-being of Everson and his family. We will have further comment at the appropriate time."
