The lack of overlap between Kevin O’Connell and Daniels may be surprising for some folks. Nevertheless, K/O has likely received the seal of approval from different coaches from within the Rams organization. One has to think that these opinions, alongside whatever interview process took place, was sufficient to move K/O in Daniels’ direction.

For whatever it’s worth, the new Vikings ST coordinator had some mixed results in Dallas. Bryan Anger finished as PFF‘s #2 punter. On the other end of things is Greg Zuerlein, who finished with an uninspiring 58.1 score for his FGs and PATs. He was 29/35 and 42/48 in these categories.

Daniels, of course, is far from being solely responsible for these outcomes. Moreover, coordinating special teams goes far beyond just the punter and kicker. A ton of work gets put into the overall blocking and tackling (which is to say nothing of the trick plays that get schemed up). They are some notable details, though.

Hopefully, Daniels can build off the strong work that Ryan Ficken did last season.
