This is significant because it all but confirms the Cousins-Vikings quasi-standoff via contract negotiations. The vast majority of Vikings fans are in the camp of “what are they waiting for?”

Well, this is the answer. Alas, Cousins will not take a team-friendly deal a la Tom Brady with the New England Patriots or Tampa Bay Buccaneers in years past. Cousins and his agents are shrewd businessmen, always maximizing dollars no matter the contract in front of them.

Cousins and the Vikings will either meet in the middle on the money, he will be traded, or Cousins will play out the final year of his deal at a gargantuan price.

But the factions are talking.
