Earlier in the week, we considered some Denver Broncos free agents who could help Minnesota. I, for one, would be enthused about Teddy Bridgewater and Bryce Callahan. Alas, that’s merely one man’s opinion. The Denver intrigue largely stems from the Ed Donatell connection, but there are even more prominent connections with the Rams. K/O and Wes Phillips, for instance, are coming over from LA. Will the Vikings therefore get some Rams free agents with them?

I previously outlined my interest in seeing the team sign Austin Corbett. I stand behind that position. It’s a fit that makes sense in terms of Minnesota’s need, Corbett’s age, and potential price. There are some other notable free agents, though.

A name that stands out when it comes to Rams free agents who may be of interest to the Vikings is Darious Williams. Several have connected him to Minnesota given the obvious need to improve the secondary. From my perspective, the real concern is the price. PFF suggests he’ll command a 3-year deal that totals $33 million. That’s too much for an older corner who was sheltered by a true CB1 and a ferocious pass rush.

Depending of the price, the Vikings may look toward Brian Allen. I lean Ben Jones when it comes to free agent centers, but there will be several teams flirting with Tennessee’s veteran center. Allen is a cheaper, younger option who could still give the Vikings strong play. He was PFF‘s 10th-best center last year.

One other name to consider. Joseph Noteboom could provide quality depth as Minnesota’s swing tackle. Rashod Hill is likely moving on, so there’s a need for an OT3. In 174 snaps, Noteboom put forth a rock-solid 76.0 PFF score. Here is their assessment of him: “Opportunities have been few an[d] far between at left tackle for Noteboom so far in his career, but he looked like a player capable of starting in the league.”

Folks, there’s no such thing as too much OL depth.
