Generally speaking, NFL executives get hired because they’re good with numbers and/or scouting. Ryan Grigson may be excellent in these areas, but it’s notable that the Vikings are bringing him on partly due to his sense of humor.

GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah offered some of his rationale for bringing Grigson aboard:

Now, I’m not saying it’s a bad criteria. Being an NFL exec can be pretty close to a 24/7 job. The folks who work in Minnesota’s front office will be missing a lot of their free time and time with their families. Surrounding oneself with people who can keep the energy up is a good thing.

Plus, this quote offers us a little more insight on Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. He was really charming in his opening press conference, and many Vikings fans expressed their enthusiasm for the hire after watching. Seeing him provide this rationale for the Ryan Grigson hire reinforces that the Vikings GM is both brilliant and down to earth.
