PurplePTSD: The Vikings Have More Offseason Resources Than Fans Realize

Vikings fans can be prone to doom-and-gloom thinking. That’s what will happen after decades of heartbreak. Well, I’ve got some good news to relay. Over the Cap suggests that Minnesota has more offseason resources than most believe.

In their estimation, the Vikings currently have the 18th-most resources. Take a peak at what they have to say:

As it stands, the Vikings are more than $15 million over next season’s cap. It’s remarkable that they’re still 18th given this negative cap total.

Earlier in the week, I discussed a plan to give the Vikings some added cap space. It was a strategy that didn’t even consider Kirk Cousins or Dalvin Cook, both of whom may be cut, traded, or restructured. In other words, the current financial outlook looks bleak, but there are solutions out there.

Plus, the team has some pretty decent draft capital. The own the 12th, 46th, and 77th picks. They also have a 5th, three 6ths, and a 7th. If KAM is at all like Slick Rick, the team may even have tons more late-rounders by the time it’s all said and done. I, for one, would be in favor of a trade back in the opening round if it was for a massive haul.

Over the Cap has therefore highlighted a positive for the Minnesota Vikings. Things aren’t perfect, and yet they’re far from disastrous. The team will have the capacity to bring in legit talent. It’s on the leadership to make the moves to identify and then bring in this talent.
