Safely Trick-or-Treat in Eagan on Halloween
The Eagan Police Department has a list of Halloween safety tips.

Eagan does not have set times for trick-or-treating, but the Eagan Police Department has a list of tips for enjoying Halloween safely.
For adults: The police department suggests that at least one adult accompany children as they go trick-or-treating. Adults can also make sure that children have flashlights with fresh batteries, which leads to another tip: "While in your vehicle, be alert and watch for children."
In terms of costumes, wearing reflective tape will help a child be visible in the dark. Bracelets and necklaces that glow are another way to creatively make a child more visible.
Other tips include:
- "Costume props should be flexible and soft. Costume props can hurt children badly if they fall. Swords, knives, etc. should be made of flexible plastic, rubber, or foam."
- "Always cross the street a crosswalks and intersections. Stop at street corners. Look both ways before crossing the street, and don’t cross between parked cars."
- "Always trick-or-treat in a group. Don’t let kids go trick-or-treating alone."
While kids will be excited to eat their candy after an evening of trick-or-treating, the last tip asks parents to check the candy first.
