Eden Prairie-Based Senator Named Minority Leader
David Hann won re-election on Tuesday and now will lead Republicans in the state Senate.

Sen. David Hann, who was re-elected to the Minnesota Senate on Nov. 6, is the new minority leader.
Hann received 51.3 percent of the vote, compared to 48.6 percent for challenger Laurie McKendry. He fared better than his party; Republicans lost control of the state House and Senate.
Republican senators elected Hann to the position Friday, according to the Star Tribune.

"We are obviously disappointed in the results of the election," Hann told the Star Tribune on Friday. "We are looking forward to working with our colleagues on the other side of the aisle, and the governor, in the interests in the people of the state.
"We will work with them where we can, but we will also be serving as a check when we think they are exceeding what the people's expectations are."
