Eden Prairie Man Charged with Threatening to Kill Woman

An Eden Prairie man has been charged with threatening to kill a woman, repeatedly racking a shotgun outside the bedroom where the woman and her daughter were hiding.

Wayne Richard Williams, 51, is charged with making terroristic threats, a felony with a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Eden Prairie police were called to a home in the 17500 block of Wiedman Way just before 12:30 a.m. Nov. 16 to investigate a domestic disturbance, according to the criminal complaint, signed by Eden Prairie Police Detective Christopher Millard.

Officers found the woman and her daughter hiding in the daughter’s bedroom, both of them “scared and shaking,” according to the complaint.

The woman told police that Williams was drunk and belligerent when he arrived that evening, and told her that she wasn’t allowed to leave the house with her daughter.

The woman told Williams that she was calling the police, then stayed with her daughter in a bedroom. While they were inside the bedroom, the woman and her daughter heard Williams repeatedly rack a shotgun that he kept in the master bedroom.

Williams said everyone “was going down” if he went to jail, according to the complaint.

Police arrested Williams and recovered a shotgun from the master bedroom. Williams told officers later that he was extremely intoxicated and didn’t remember much about the evening, the complaint said. However, he said that when he gets drunk, he handles unloaded weapons, and admitted he might have racked a shotgun during the incident, according to the complaint.

Williams has been released from custody on a $20,000 bond. An omnibus hearing in his case is scheduled Dec. 19 in Hennepin County District Court.
