Eden Prairie Man Charged in Connection with String of Burglaries

Authorities have arrested an Eden Prairie man suspected of burglarizing at least two Burnsville apartment complexes.

Andrew Douglas Page, 30, has been charged with two counts of second-degree burglary, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

Around 11 p.m. on Feb. 9 the Burnsville Police Department was called to an apartment complex in the 600 block of Greenhaven Drive. The caller was an 82-year-old woman who reported that some of her jewelry was missing. She'd been away from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. that day. She told policeshe didn't notice anything amiss until she saw one of her rings on the floor while she was getting ready for bed. She checked her jewelry box and found that a significant amount was missing. The woman said the loss was about $20,000.

She told officers she does not receive in-home services. There was no sign of forced entry. Investigators examined a locked firebox at the complex, which contains master keys, and found that they too were missing. The woman, who happens on be the board of the complex, said that on the weekend of the burglary someone pried open the door to the complex office and took $200.

Unfortunately, there was no video recording device inside the office.

On Feb. 11, investigators were called to another apartment complex in the 14500 block of Regent Lane, where the manager said that someone had entered two locked offices during the night of Feb. 10. When she arrived at work the next morning, she found the office in disarray with papers scattered about, cabinets left open, and drawers pulled out. Three money bags were missing, which contained a total of $500 in cash and 13 rent checks. As in the first burglary, the master keys were gone. Surveillance video showed a male ransacking the office.

Burnsville investigators took photos of the man to a Tri-County Investigators meeting. One of the investigators present recognized the man as Andrew Douglas Page, who had recently been arrested in Minnetonka for possession of locksmithing tools.

Page made his first appearance on Tuesday. His next hearing is scheduled for May 13.
