Eden Prairie Man Charged with Car Theft
Police say Jibril Osman Abdi stole a car on Sept. 29, but he was apprehended -- with the car -- two days later.

An Eden Prairie man has been charged with stealing a car, which police recovered in Minneapolis two days after it was reported missing.
Jibril Osman Abdi, 32, is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, a felony with a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
According to the criminal complaint, signed by Minneapolis Police Sgt. Joel Sandberg, the owner of the 1997 Honda Accord reported that the car was stolen sometime between noon and 2 p.m. on Sept. 29, and he told police that he still had the keys.

At about 2 a.m. Oct. 1, Minneapolis police on patrol spotted a car parked at the end of a block with its brake lights blinking on and off repeatedly.
Officers ran a computer check on the car’s license plate and discovered that it had been reported stolen.

Police found Abdi in the car and arrested him. He did not have keys to the car, according to the complaint.
Abdi has been released from custody on a $5,000 bond. An omnibus hearing in his case is scheduled Nov. 13 in Hennepin County District Court.
