Eden Prairie Man Charged With First Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct

If convicted of the charge, Matthew James Edwards faces up to 30 years in prison.

A 48-year-old Eden Prairie man has been charged with felony first-degree criminal sexual conduct. 

Matthew James Edwards was charged Thursday in Hennepin County Court. If convicted, Edwards faces up to 30 years in prison and/or $12,000- $40,000 in fines. 

Police believe Edwards engaged in sexual penetration with a person under 16, and the sexual abuse involved multiple acts committed over an extended period of time.
