Eden Prairie Student Works For Social Change at Washington, D.C. Forum

Maddie Flom was one of 50 young high-school aged women to be selected as an ANNpower Fellow.

Maddie Flom, a junior from Eden Prairie, was one of 50 young high-school aged women to be selected as an ANNpower Fellow for their leadership potential and commitment to creating positive social change.

From April 1-4, she participated in the ANNpower Vital Voices Leadership Forum, a three-day leadership training and mentorship program in Washington, D.C.

During the Forum, the ANNpower Fellows received leadership and communications training, unique mentorship opportunities and met with internationally renowned women leaders, including:

·        Hilary Rodham Clinton, Former U.S. Secretary of State

·        Valerie Jarrett, Senior Advisor to President Barack Obama 

Upon completion of the Forum, the Fellows were charged with developing projects to implement innovative solutions to social issues that impact their respective communities. The goal is to create a ripple effect that will benefit 5,000 or more people across the country in the next year.

The young women will be eligible to receive ANNpower Project Grants of up to $2,500 to put their ideas into action.
