The Aug. 1 crash that left a Marine dead and another injured is under criminal investigation, according to the Star Tribune.

The fatal Eden Prairie crash that left a 23-year-old Marine dead and another man injured last Thursday is under a criminal investigation now.

According to the Star Tribune, police confirmed the investigation Tuesday night:

“This [crash] is not typical,” said Police Lt. Bill Wyffels. “There is an investigation to see if there is a crime.”

According to a news release from the Eden Prairie Police Department following the accident, a preliminary investigation indicated that speeding was likely a factor in the crash.
Kyle Boline of New Hope died after a one-vehicle crash Thursday night near the intersection of Eden Prairie Road and Park Terrace Drive. Another, who has not yet been named, was injured after the Corvette they were in hit a couple utility poles and rolled. Both were ejected from their seats.

According to the Star Tribune, police wouldn't comment on who was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.
