Monger Places Sixth in State Wrestling Tourament
Gribben was eliminated Saturday during the final day of individual competition.
Eden Prairie's Chase Monger won his way into the medal rounds in the state Class AAA wrestling tournament, but lost a pair of matches after that to settle for sixth place at 145 pounds.
Monger went 1-1 in preliminary action Friday, then won a pair of consolation bracket matches early Saturday to clinch a top-six finish. But in the consolation semis Monger lost a tough 1-0 decision to Grant Nehring of St. Cloud Apollo, sending him to the fifth-place match, where he lost 5-2 to Jake Hanson of Rochester Mayo.
Matt Gribben, the other Eden Prairie wrestler who made it to the final day of tournament competition, lost his first consolation match and was eliminated.
