Police Believe Man Stole Someone Else's Kitchen Appliances From Store

A felony warrant has been issued for one of the men police say is responsible for the theft from ApplianceSmart.

Police believe a Bloomington man stole someone else's new kitchen appliances, by picking up the order from the store without permission.

Robert James Hampton, 45, has been ordered to Hennepin County court on a warrant. He faces a felony charge of theft over $5,000.

On Oct. 18, two men showed up at ApplianceSmart on Martin Drive in Eden Prairie in a U-Haul. They claimed they were there to pick up appliances that had already been paid for. As they loaded the dishwasher, range hood, built-in convection oven, refrigerator and gas cooktop into the U-Haul, an employee took a photo of them due to "the suspicious handling of the appliances," according to the criminal complaint.
