Man Following ICE Agents Taken Into Custody In West St. Paul: Police
Police said officers were responding to a report of a man with a firearm and were not involved in federal immigration enforcement.
WEST ST. PAUL, MN — A man who police say was reportedly following ICE agents with a firearm was taken into custody Wednesday morning in West St. Paul.
According to the West St. Paul Police Department, officers were called at about 10:35 a.m. to the area of Charlton Street and Emerson Avenue after reports that a male suspect had been following federal agents in his vehicle and was seen reaching for and brandishing a firearm.
When officers arrived, they located a firearm on the dashboard of the suspect’s vehicle and took the man into custody without incident, police said.

The department said photos circulating online show West St. Paul squad cars near ICE vehicles because officers were responding to the firearms call.
"As a reminder, the West St. Paul PD is not involved in federal immigration initiatives," the department said in a statement. "Officers and squad cars were on scene responding to the call about a man with a firearm."

No injuries were reported. Police did not immediately release the suspect’s identity or say whether charges are pending.
