Editor's Note: The following is a press release issued by Edina Public Schools.

The Edina High School Concert Band, under the direction of Paul Kile, will present its 60th annual Pops Concert on Feb. 22, 23, 28, March 1 and 2 at 7 p.m. in Fick Auditorium. This year’s theme is “Once Upon a Pops.”

Concert Band students will perform a wide selection of musical styles ranging from major works to pop music, light novelty music, jazz, and everything in between. Band students announce all numbers, sing all the vocal parts, perform all the dances and skits and collaborate on the overall theme of the concert. This is great entertainment for the whole family!

Silent Auction

Together with this year’s Pops Concert, the Band Boosters will sponsor their annual silent auction. Bidding will be open one hour before each performance and during intermission. Each performance will host a different set of items up for bid, with most items being sold at the end of each concert.

Selected big ticket items will draw bids at all five concerts and be sold at the closing concert. It is not necessary to be present to win. All proceeds will fund band opportunities beyond traditional curricular offerings, including guest conductors, special events, commissioning musical pieces, etc.
