Teens Arrested After Facebook Marketplace Deal Turns Into Shooting In Edina
Despite an uncooperative victim and witnesses, Edina police say they tracked down two teen suspects and made arrests within 12 hours.

EDINA, MN — Two teenage boys were arrested after an 18-year-old was shot during what police say was a "Facebook Marketplace deal gone wrong" in Edina on Sunday evening.
Officers were first dispatched around 5:30 p.m. Sunday to the parking lot of 7171 France Ave. for a report of an armed robbery with shots fired.
When they arrived, they found an 18-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his left arm. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Edina police.

Police said the victim and witnesses were uncooperative. Despite this, investigators worked overnight and determined that the robbery actually occurred in the parking lot of an apartment building at 7333 Gallagher Drive.
Officers reviewed surveillance video and identified two suspects. At the scene, police found footprints, tire tracks, and a discharged .40-caliber cartridge casing, which were processed by the Hennepin County Crime Lab.

A 16-year-old suspect was later located driving in Edina and arrested after a traffic stop. Investigators obtained a search warrant for the second suspect, who was found in the 4400 block of Parklawn Court.
Edina SWAT, with assistance from Eden Prairie and St. Louis Park SWAT teams, executed the warrant and took the 17-year-old into custody without incident. Police said a .40-caliber ghost gun was recovered during the search.
Both teens are being held at the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center as charges are pending.
Police said the suspects were taken into custody within 12 hours of the initial 9-1-1 call. The investigation remains ongoing.
