Edina High School has advanced to within one game of the 2013 Minnesota State Baseball Tournament. The Hornets punched their ticket to the Section 6AAA championship with a convincing 4-0 victory over Wayzata Saturday afternoon at the Metrodome. Senior captain Matt Hopfner allowed just one hit on his way to a complete game victory. Wayzata shuffled to the losers bracket after the defeat and defeated Hopkins to advance to the championship game versus Edina. The Section 6AAA championship will be determined Tuesday, June 4, at 4:30 p.m.
