Edina Crews Respond to Dryer Fire, Smoking Oven
The Edina Fire Department's weekly activity report for March 7-13.

The responded to the following incidents during the week of March 7-13:
March 7
- Edina Fire Department was requested for mutual aid assistance at the scene of an apartment fire in Eden Prairie in the 8000 block of Eden Road.
- Paramedic Firefighters responded to eight Emergency Medical Service incidents.

- Firefighters were called to an apartment in the 4200 block of Parklawn Avenue for a possible oven fire. The fire was out prior to the fire department's arrival. The engine crew assisted with ventilating the smoke from the apartment unit and disconnected the power to the oven until a technician could service the unit.
- Eight EMS incidents.
- Two false fire alarms were investigated.
March 9
- A realtor showing a property found a smoke haze in a home in the 6600 block of Parkwood Road. Firefighters investigated and found a charred wood joist in the area where a plumber had earlier been soldering a pipe. Fire crews from neighboring St. Louis Park, Richfield and Hopkins also responded to the scene.
- Four EMS responses, plus two separate vehicle crashes with injuries received assistance by both an ambulance and an engine crew. Both accidents occurred on Highway 169 at Valley View Road, two hours apart.
- Fire crews responded to a home in the 5900 block of Fairfax Avenue for a dryer fire. Firefighters found smoke from a probable malfunctioning dryer motor. Power and gas were disconnected to the unit and the smoke was ventilated from the home.
- Three false fire alarms were reported.

March 11
- Eight EMS calls.
- One false fire alarm.
March 12
- Eight EMS incidents.
- A smell of smoke was investigated inside a home in the 5900 block of Fairfax Avenue. No source was found and the slight odor was possibly coming from outside, either from a fireplace or recreational fire.
March 13
- Four EMS responses.
- One vehicle crash with injuries generated a request for a second ambulance.
