Edina Girls Cross-Country Team Wins State Championship

Three Edina runners placed among the top 20 in the Class 3A state championship race last weekend.

EDINA, MN — The Edina girls cross-country team won its fourth state championship since 2015 last weekend at St. Olaf College.

Senior captain Maggie Wagner finished the 5,000-meter Class 3A state title race in seventh place, with sophomore Ella Hinkie earning 14th place and senior captain Macy Iyer taking 16th place. All three made the All-State team.

Edina won the state championship race with 75 points, well ahead of second-placed Wayzata with 100 points.

Wagner was also named to the Academic All-State team, along with juniors Lauren Cossack and Mary Velner.

St. Michael-Albertville senior Ali Weimer won the individual Class 3A state championship after holding off Hopkins High freshmen Sydney Drevlow and Daphne Grobstein, who finished second and third, respectively.
