Hornets Win Close Contest Against Andover
Edina defeated the Andover Huskies 24-23 at Kuhlman Stadium on Thursday, Aug. 30.
In what could possibly be one of the closest games they'll face all season, the Hornets escaped a tough matchup against Andover 24-23 at on Thursday, Aug. 30.
Andover sprinted to a 14-point lead in the first quarter, off of a pair of touchdown passes from quarterback Connor Wilkie to Chris Larson and Justin Freyholtz. They were completions of 71 and 34 yards, respectively.
The Hornets answered back quickly, with Patrick LeCorre notching a 41-yard field goal early in the second quarter. Edina quarterback Mark Handberg accounted for two touchdowns in the second quarter, rushing in a two-yarder for a score and connecting with Erik Veker for a 27-yard touchdown to take the lead.

Wilkie responded in the third with an 11-yard touchdown pass to Alec Daniel to move ahead 21-17 in the third, but Handberg once again helped Edina secure the lead with a touchdown pass to Nick Boone. Andover scored a safety late in the contest, but the Hornets were able to stem the attack to escape with a 24-23 victory.
