Edina Man Charged with Taking Stolen Vehicle
William Anthony Vann told police a friend offered him the car.

Minneapolis police have a 26-year-old Edina man in custody after he was caught last week driving a stolen vehicle.
William Anthony Vann, of the 4000 block of Kipling Ave. S., was reportedly driving a 1994 4-door Buick Century at the intersection of Franklin and Clinton avenues in Minneapolis on Sept. 26.
Minneapolis police pulled the vehicle over and identified the driver as Vann. According to documents, police said the vehicle's steering column had been damaged to allow access to interior mechanisms and "the vehicle was running despite having no keys in the ignition."

In a statement to police, Vann said a man he knows as "B-Moe" offered him the car and he took it. According to reports, Vann said he later asked "B-Moe" about the lack of keys, to which he replied "not to worry about it because they were lost."
Police report Vann later stated "B-Moe" showed him how to start the vehicle without a key by turning a metal tool in the broken steering column. Vann allegedly claimed he had no agreement with "B-Moe" to rent the vehicle or when to return it.
