Edina's Graham Woodward Nominated for McDonald’s All American Boys Team

The final roster of 24 boys will be announced Feb. 14

Edina High School basketball star Graham Woodward is one of only two Minnesota nominees to the 2013 McDonald’s All American Boys Team, organizers announced Tuesday.

Woodward is among more than 800 high school seniors from 39 states and the District of Columbia who were nominated for the 2013 McDonald’s All American Boys and Girls Games.

The final roster of 24 girls and 24 boys will be announced at 5 p.m. Feb. 14 during the McDonald’s All American Games Selection Show on ESPNU.

"This list of McDonald’s All American Games Nominees represents the finest prep talent in the country, and we are privileged to acknowledge them for their career success on the court, in the classroom and in the community," a news release quoted Morgan Wootten, McDonald’s All American Games Selection Committee Chairman. "Today we celebrate these young players, and we look forward to selecting the final team next month."

Woodward, who will play at Penn State this fall, recently set Edina High School's all-time basketball scoring record. He's currently ranked third in the state for total points scored for the 2013 season with 466 points, according to MN Basketball Hub .

The boys game takes place at 8:30 p.m. April 3 at Chicago's United Center and will be broadcast on ESPN. The girls game takes place at 6 p.m. April 3 at the United Center and will be broadcast live on ESPNU.

Joe Aase of Austin High School was also nominated for the boys team. For Minnesota girls, Nia Coffey of Hopkins High School, Rebekah Dahlman of Braham High School and Jessica January of Richfield High School were all nominated.
