EHS Grad Playing Orpheum with 'Priscilla Queen of the Desert'

Edina High School graduate David Koch is coming home next week, as part of a nationwide tour of "Priscilla Queen of the Desert." 

The popular musical is playing from Jan. 8-13 at the Orpheum Theatre, presented by the Hennepin Theatre Trust as part of its 2012/13 Broadway Across America-Minneapolis season. Tickets to the show are available online or by calling 1-800-982-2787.

WCCO spoke with Koch about his return to Minnesota, asking him what it's like to come back home.

Yes, I was raised in Edina. I love coming back to the Twin Cities. I love showing off my hometown to the people in the shows I’m in. My parents still live in the same house and I have been back to visit Edina High School. They have really wonderful theater department now, which I am a little envious of. We didn’t have much theater when I went to school, but we did have a really great choir program. I was in “The Music Man” when I was in ninth grade and loved it. Because of the hard work of two teachers, Bob Peterson and Tom Amundson, I have a career in theater. I’m not sure I ever told them that. So if they read this, thank you!

The musical stars the respected Wade McCollum ("Tick/Mitzi"), Scott Willis ("Bernadette") and Bryan West ("Adam/Felicia") as the trio of friends who hop aboard a battered old bus seeking love and friendship in the Australian outback and end up finding more than they could ever have dreamed. Tickets start at $39, depending on performance time and seating preference.
