Get Out: Sweetheart Dance, Free Concerts Among Weekend Festivities

1. Edina High School Sweetheart Dance

Where/When: Hotel Sofitel, 5601 West 78th St., Bloomington; 8:30-11:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 12

Why Go: A great opportunity for students to get out and enjoy a night of fun and dancing with their friends. All students are encouraged to attend the dance, though tickets will not be available at the event itself. Students can pre-purchase tickets outside of the cafeteria during lunch periods through Friday, Feb. 11.

2. Concerts in the Park: Moonlight Serenaders Band

Where/When: , 7700 York Ave. S., Edina; 7 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 13

Why Go: Check out a night of free music at the Edinborough Park Amphitheater, featuring big band tunes from the St. Paul-based Moonlight Serenaders Band.

3. Edina Girls Basketball Game

Why Go: See the Edina Hornets girls varsity basketball team take on Lake Conference rival Hopkins at Edina High School. The Hornets are currently 12-8 overall and 1-3 in Lake Conference play.

4. Cornbread Harris Plays the Blues

Where/When: Southdale Library, 7001 York Ave. S., Edina; 1-2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 12

Why Go: Don't miss out on a chance to see Twin Cities blues legend James Samuel “Cornbread” Harris Sr. give a free concert at the local library. And best of all, it's absolutely free.

Why Go: Bring your loved ones or BFFs to a Valentines workshop. We will create
mixed-media masterpieces for that special loved one using unique papers, punches, markers and embellishments. Children must be five or older and those under nine must be accompanied by an adult.
