South View Kicking Off School Year with New Assistant Principal
Jason Dockter is taking over for the departing Patrick Duffy, who left for a position with Minneapolis Public Schools.

Following more than a decade of work with , Jason Dockter is taking on the job of assistant principal at .
Dockter, who started as a social studies teacher at , is replacing Patrick Duffy. Duffy left Edina in June for a principalship with Minneapolis Public Schools.
"I am really looking forward to continuing my work in the District and helping to take student achievement to the next level," Dockter said. "I have a passion for the middle level student and am excited about the opportunity to work with the great students, families and staff at South View Middle School."

Most recently, Dockter served as an alternative compensation coach during the 2011-12 school year. He worked with teachers from across Edina Public Schools, coaching them on how to improve their instruction and connections with both students and families.
"Through my coaching work last year I was very impressed with the level of professionalism and talent of our teachers in Edina Public Schools," he said. "I look forward to collaborating with my colleagues at South View and across the District to further impact academic achievement and ensure all students are reaching their full potential."

Before coming to Edina, Dockter taught both social studies and language arts in Mexico City and worked with the Minnesota Historical Society on its Historian in the Classroom program. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Carleton College before receiving both a Masters degree and an Education Specialist degree from the University of St. Thomas.
Superintendent Ric Dressen said Dockter's leadership experiences at both the district and school level will help him advance the success of South View Middle School and the district as a whole.
"I am pleased to have him join our leadership team and look forward to working with him in his new role," Dressen said.
