LETTER: Jacobson Has Values, Experience to 'Make Minnesota an Even Better Place'

I’ve known Terry Jacobson for over twenty five years, and I’ve had a lot of interaction with her during that time. This experience has been extremely positive, and has led me to make what will probably be the easiest endorsement decision of my life: I am proudly supporting my mother, Terry Jacobson, for State Representative in House District 49B. She has the values and experience to help make Minnesota an even better place.

My mom taught good values to my sister and me. She taught us, among other things, gratitude, personal responsibility, the importance of hard work, and the importance of family and faith. These values were taught by her example, by being present for my sister and me as a mother, by helping to support our family financially, by always being there to help tutor my sister and me when we needed it, and by planning and spending time together as a family, even when her schedule made it difficult. I know she was proud to see us do well in school and enjoyed watching us graduate from college, and to see my sister become an RN and 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, and to see me go to William Mitchell Law School, where I am now working to finish my third year.

As for experience, my mom worked as a math teacher, so she has a keen insight into the education system. She knows how much work it takes to be a good teacher. I remember the many days where, after coming home from school, my mom was hard at work grading her class assignments, and planning the next lesson. She understands the challenges teachers face in the classroom, and the importance of motivating kids to learn and succeed and communicating with children and parents to make sure that children are doing their best. Along with this education experience she also worked as a certified financial planner (CFP®), and helped others to create a secure retirement. She understands how to manage finances and how to plan a responsible budget; something that is sorely needed in government today.

In short, Terry Jacobson is the right candidate for the job. She has the right experience and values for the position. I ask that people vote for my mom, Terry Jacobson, for State Representative this Nov. 6.
