Light Fixture Ignites, Crashes into Edina Parking Lot
The Edina Fire Department's weekly activity report for Sept. 5-11.

The responded to the following incidents during the week of Sept. 5-11:
Sept. 5
- Paramedic firefighters assisted at five Emergency Medical Service calls.
- Firefighters investigated one false fire alarm.
- A recreational fire complaint was investigated.

- Nine EMS responses.
- Firefighters investigated a power line that was downed and arcing. The area was without power, so the arcing had stopped prior to the fire department’s arrival. The power company was contacted and was en route to repair.
- A request from Richfield Fire for a mutual aid response was cancelled en route.
- One false fire alarm was checked.
Sept. 7
- Five EMS incidents.
- One false fire alarm malfunction was investigated.
Sept. 8

- Two EMS responses.
- A natural gas odor was investigated in the area of Maloney Avenue and Tyler Avenue. No odor was detected, but the gas company was contacted to follow up.
- Two false fire alarms were reported.
Sept. 9
- Four EMS incidents.
- Natural gas odor was reported at a home in the 4500 block of Oak Drive. A contractor noticed the odor and turned the gas off at the meter. There was no longer a gas odor or measurable gas detected when firefighters arrived. The gas company was contacted to investigate.
- Two false fire alarms were investigated.
Sept. 10
- 15 EMS incidents.
- Firefighters responded to a home in the 4700 block of Hibiscus Avenue for a fire alarm and report of burnt pizza. The was no fire upon firefighters arrival. Doors and windows were opened to assist with ventilation.
- A carbon monoxide alarm from a low battery was checked in the 4200 block of France Avenue.
- A recreational fire complaint was investigated.
Sept. 11
- A lighting fixture fire was reported in the parking lot of a business in the 7100 block of France Avenue. The lens of the fixture was burning and had fallen onto the parking lot. Firefighters extinguished the small fire and investigated but did not discover a cause for the fire.
