Morningside Neighborhood May Notice Dirty Water This Weekend

A massive water main break in Minneapolis Thursday is causing local water to exhibit an iron taste, smell or discoloration.

A massive water main break in Minneapolis Thursday afternoon could create dirty water for residents of Edina's Morningside Neighborhood for the next few days.

City of Edina officials report the water is safe for residents to drink, though it might exhibit an iron taste, smell or discoloration. The water main break happened when private contractors struck a 36-inch pipe that delivers a large portion of water to Minneapolis near Hennepin and 2nd Street North.

Any Edina residents with questions about the situation can contact the City of Minneapolis Waterworks at 612-673-2418.
