Neuendorf Joins Edina as Economic Development Manager

Bill Neuendorf previously worked at St. Paul-based nonprofit Transit for Livable Communities.

Edina has hired its first Economic Development Manager, bringing aboard veteran urban planner William "Bill" Neuendorf late last month.

Neuendorf previously worked at the St. Paul-based nonprofit Transit for Livable Communities, serving as its director of advocacy and policy. Prior to that, he served as Director of Community and Economic Development for the Village of Morton Grove, IL, a first-ring suburb of Chicago.

He's no stranger to Edina, having settled his family in the community shortly after first moving to Minnesota. Neuendorf said he knows Edina as a place "where people are proud to live."

"The roots run deep in Edina," Neuendorf said, in a release. "Strong community involvement and support is essential for the community to maintain the high expectations of a prosperous and successful economic base."

Neuendorf brings years of experience as an engineer to the , with nearly a decade of work alongside public agencies and private developers to create buildings that satisfied local needs, fulfilled high community expectations and met tight budgetary limits. Among other project types, he worked extensively with shopping malls and town centers throughout the United States.

He has already represented the interests of a handful of first-ring suburbs as a member of the Metropolitan Council’s Land Use Advisory Commission, in addition to participating in Edina's recent . 

Neuendorf holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Marquette University and a master’s degree in Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois.
