(PHOTOS) Edina Advances in Sectionals with 35-6 Win over Robbinsdale Armstrong
The Hornets will face the Blaine Bengals at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2, at Kulhman Stadium in the second round of sectional play.
The Edina High School football team is now one win away from a state tournament appearance.
The Hornets rolled through Robbinsdale Armstrong last Friday, Oct. 26, in the opening round of Section 6AAAAAA play, securing a 35-6 victory against Falcons.
It was a ground-heavy game for the Hornets, with quarterbacks Mark Handberg and Erik Veker throwing for a combined 51 yards. Veker took the bulk of the snaps as the game went on, throwing for one touchdown and rushing for another.

Running back Kevin Placide gained 89 yards off of only seven carries, scoring a pair of touchdowns in the process. Fellow junior running back Jack Rickert subbed in for Placide later in the game, piling up 106 yards and a touchdown for the team.
Senior Derek Todd had an interception for the Hornets, while Miles Lerner led the team in tackles with three solo and five assisted.

UP NEXT
The Hornets continue their journey in the sectional tournament with a crossover game against Blaine High School on Friday, Nov. 2 at Kuhlman Stadium. The Bengals defeated Brainerd 21-0 in the first round of sectional play. The winner of that game earns a berth in the state tournament.
