(PHOTOS) Hornets End Season with State Tournament Loss
The Edina football team lost 14-10 to the Rosemount High School Irish at the Metrodome on Thursday, Nov. 8.
The No. 1 seeded Edina Hornets ended their 2012 postseason with a close loss to the Rosemount Irish at the Metrodome on Thursday, Nov. 8.
The Hornets kicked off the contest with an early lead, thanks to a rushing touchdown from quarterback Mark Handberg and a 37-yard field goal from kicker Patrick LeCorre.
The Irish licked their wounds and came out swinging in the second half of the semi-final matchup, scoring a pair of third quarter touchdowns to give them the lead. It was a defensive struggle from there on out, with the Hornets unable to find the endzone before the clock wound down.

Edina quarterback Mark Handberg threw for 122 yards, with wide receivers Erik Veker and Ben Boone recording 53 and 46 yards, respectively.
Running back Kevin Placide led the Hornets with 122 rushing yards on 22 attempts, averaging 5.5 yards per carry.
