An open discussion regarding underage drinking—and the liability of parents—is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 26, at Edina High School.

The Edina High School Parent Council is presenting the forum, which is slated to run approximately 90 minutes, in the school's Community Room.

A panel of speakers will discuss underage drinking, curfews, drug possession, hosting and chaperoning parties, parent liability and legal consequences. The panel includes School Resource Officer Brian Hubbard, Criminal Devense Attorney Ed Cohen and two parents who have relevant experiences to share.

"It’s important for parents to know the laws and rules, and the consequences if children don’t follow them," said Cindy Wood, co-chair of the Parent Forum. "Parents don’t always know where to get that information and there’s a lot to learn. We always want our kids to stay safe, and as parents we want to be aware of what’s going on."

The program is open to all residents and admission is completely free of charge. No reservations are required prior to the event.
