The beloved doughnut chain will flip on its Hot Light and open the doors of its brand-new shop at 5696 University Ave. NE in Fridley at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12, nearly two decades after leaving Minnesota.

The 12,000-square-foot theater shop, built inside a renovated former drugstore and now LEED-certified, will serve Krispy Kreme’s iconic Original Glazed doughnuts hot off the line plus limited-time seasonal varieties.

Beyond the Fridley location, the shop will produce doughnuts for delivery to select Minnesota retailers, expanding Krispy Kreme’s reach statewide.

“We’re thrilled to return to the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, a location where fans have been asking us to come back for nearly two decades,” said CEO Josh Charlesworth. “This strategic location allows us to serve Minnesotans across the state, and we can’t wait to bring the most amazing doughnut experience imaginable back to the community.”

During grand-opening week, ten dozen lucky guests will win a Celebration Ticket redeemable for a free dozen Original Glazed doughnuts every month for a year.

The Fridley store sits just off Interstate 694, five minutes from I-94 and about 15 minutes from downtown Minneapolis.
