Fall Youth Soccer Registration Open Until Aug. 5

Golden Valley Park and Recreation is looking for volunteer coaches for the program.

Children now can register for the fall youth soccer program through Golden Valley Park and Recreation.

The registration deadline is Aug. 5, according to a news release from the city.

Volunteer coaches also are needed.

The program is for children in grades kindergarten through five. Students must register for the grade they will be going into in the fall. Junior fall soccer is for children in kindergarten through first grade and youth soccer is for grades two through five.

Junior soccer games and practice will be held at in Golden Valley. Youth soccer games will be played at fields in Golden Valley, Robbinsdale and Crystal. All practices, however, will be in Golden Valley.

The first game is Saturday, Sept. 10, and they will continue through the end of October. Practice begins the last week of August. 

All teams are formed randomly, according to the city. "Requests for friends or coaches are not accepted. Coaches will be assigned with their child(ren). Each team requires two volunteer coaches. Coaches are parents or college and high school students."

The cost for children to participate is $33 ($38 for non-residents). Any child who plays must wear a reversible jersey that can be purchased at the Park and Recreation office for $12. If your child has a jersey already, they can reuse it. Shin guards are required but they won't be provided, according to information provided by the city.

If a volunteer coach cannot be found for a team, refunds will be given.
