FTA’s Bottineau Decision Could be Mere Months Away

The Federal Transit Administration could decide by mid-2014 whether the light rail project will be able to enter into development.

The Federal Transit Administration could make a decision as early as mid-2014 on whether the Bottineau light rail transit line can enter into development, the Star Tribune reported.

The news follows the Counties Transit Improvement Board decision last week to give Hennepin County $27.6 million for project planning.

When complete, the 13-mile line will run from Minneapolis to Brooklyn Park—passing through Golden Valley, Robbinsdale and Crystal.

Total project costs are expected to be $1 billion in 2017 dollars.
