An omnibus hearing in Evin’s case is scheduled July 12 in Hennepin County District Court.

According to the criminal complaint, signed by Sgt. Dennis Arons, a Golden Valley resident reported a suspicious vehicle in the area of Hampshire Avenue North and Knoll Street on June 11. The caller told police that a white U-Haul had driven around the block several times without parking.

Police stopped the truck and asked the driver for his license, and also asked for his female passenger’s identification.

When they checked on the truck and the passenger’s ID, they learned that the U-Haul had been reported stolen, and that the woman was the subject of a domestic abuse no-contact order against Evin, the driver.

Further investigation showed that Evin’s driver’s license was suspended and he had been ordered not to have any contact with the woman in the truck.

Evin was convicted of domestic violence-related offenses involving the same victim twice in 2011.
