In the next few weeks, Noble fifth grade students will be taking the 2022 Minnesota Student Survey (MSS). All fifth grade students in Robbinsdale Area Schools will be taking the same survey, along with students in grades 8, 9 and 11.

The MSS is an anonymous statewide school-based survey that helps the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) and other state agencies gain insights into the world of students and their experiences. It's also one of the longest running youth surveys in the nation.

Our fifth graders will be taking the survey, which takes approximately 30-50 minutes to complete, on March 9, 2022.

It's important for you to know the MSS is voluntary, and our fifth grade families can choose not to have their children participate. If you don't want your child participating in the anonymous survey, please fill out our digital opt-out Google Form. In addition, for families who wish to preview the questions, links to the survey can be found in the opt-out form.

The survey is important. The MSS is the primary source of comprehensive data on youth at the state, county and local level in Minnesota. The survey asks students about how well school is going, their future plans, out-of-school activities, physical and mental health, relationships, substance use and more. This useful information about their thoughts and behaviors helps communities and schools develop effective programs and provide better services.

Again, the survey and its results are totally anonymous. To prevent students or families from being identified, students do not provide their names, student identification numbers, or other personal information.

Thank you for your support and continued partnership.

Sincerely,

Michael Rieckenberg

Principal
