Here's some fun, free events:
• The sixth annual Ice Cream Social is 7 p.m. Monday, July 15, at Brookview Park. The event will feature free Sebastian Joe’s ice cream.

•  The same night as the Ice Cream Social and at the same location the the First John Philip Sousa Memorial Band will perform as part of the free summer weekly concert series on Mondays. Each concert lasts about 60 to 90 minutes. You can bring a lawn chair or blanket and even bring food if you like.
• The Golden Valley City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, in City Hall. The agenda includes discussing the 2015 pavement management program and its finances. the pavement management street list includes the following: Naper Street from Mendelssohn Ave. N. to Flag Ave.; Olympia Street from Mendelssohn Ave. N. to Flag Ave. N.; Winsdale Street from Mendelssohn Ave. N. to Gettysburg Ave.; Independence Ave. N. from Plymouth Ave. N. to Earl Street; Hillsboro Ave. N. from Plymouth Ave. N. to Winsdale Street; Hillsboro Ave. N. from Olympia Street to Naper Street; Gettysburg Ave. N. from Plymouth Ave. N. to Naper Street; Flag Ave. N. where the cul-de-sac is to Naper Street; Wheeler Blvd from where the cul-de-sac is to Earl Street; Alley from Naper Street to about 150 feet north; Alley from Wheeler Blvd to about 300 feet north and alley from Olympia Street to about 130 feet north. The streets surround the Lakeview Heights Park area in Golden Valley.

• Police and Fires in the Parks program is 3 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at Scheid Park. Get cooled off by the fire hose, learn about safety from police, get a free frisbee and ice cream and enjoy time with friends and neighbors. Here's a preview of the program at Lakeview Heights Park.
• The monthly meeting of the Envision Connection Project Board of Directors is 7 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at City Hall. (The agenda was not available as of this posting.) The board oversees community engagement efforts in the city and encourages Bridge Builder initiatives to improve Golden Valley and connections in the community, according to the city’s website.
